When a medical emergency happens on an island or at sea, reaching the right hospital can be challenging. Nusa Medica Sea Ambulance provides dedicated medical evacuation and patient transfer services across Bali and surrounding islands, helping connect patients with referral hospitals when transportation by sea is required.
The service is available to both local residents and international travelers who need further medical care. It combines a dedicated medical evacuation vessel, essential medical equipment, and trained medical personnel to support patients throughout the journey.
The service supports medical transfers from Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida to Sanur and Padang Bai, depending on the patient’s referral needs. It can also reach Gili Air and Gili Trawangan, extending medical evacuation support to the Lombok and Gili area.
According to dr. I Gde Yudha Kurniawan, Operational Director of PT Nusa Medica Assistama, the service was developed to help speed up referrals for patients who require further treatment at hospitals with more advanced medical facilities.
Cases may include head trauma, fractures, diarrhea with dehydration, heart conditions, and other medical situations that require further hospital care.
The sea ambulance specifications reflect the vessel’s role in supporting medical evacuation and patient transportation. Built from fiberglass, the boat measures 11.10 meters in length, 2.70 meters in width, and 1.10 meters in depth. According to Ridho Ananda, Call Center Manager of Nusa Medica Assistama, the vessel is powered by three Yamaha engines with a combined output of 750 PK.
Officially registered for use as a medical evacuation and ambulance vessel, this water ambulance provides a dedicated transportation option for patients who need to travel between islands and referral hospitals.
The ambulance boat inside is equipped with a ventilator, patient monitor, oxygen, and other supporting medical equipment to assist with patient care during transportation.
Patients can be accompanied by trained and certified medical personnel who provide monitoring and medical assistance throughout the journey, helping maintain continuity of care until the patient reaches the receiving medical facility.
Beyond inter-island patient transfers, the Sea Ambulance can also support emergency calls at sea within its operational area, including requests for medical assistance from agencies such as BPBD or BASARNAS.
This capability provides an additional medical transport option during maritime emergencies around Bali and nearby islands, particularly when access to landbased medical services is limited.
Whether it is an urgent medical evacuation, an inter-island hospital referral, or emergency medical support at sea, Nusa Medica provides coordinated medical transportation throughout the transfer process.
With dedicated medical equipment, trained personnel, and inter-island coverage, Nusa Medica Sea Ambulance helps connect patients with the medical care they need when the journey has to happen by sea.(*)
